About Chasin’ Tail Charters

Chasin’ Tail Charters is owner-operated by me, Captain Nick. I’m a Ketchikan local, USCG licensed Captain with extensive experience and knowledge. I offer custom, private, family-friendly, professional Ketchikan fishing charters on my boat, the C/V Chasin’ Tail.

Ketchikan Fishing Charters with Captain Nick

Chasin’ Tail Charters is not a fleet, it’s one boat and me. So when you book your trip you know exactly who you’re going out with and on what boat.

I’m a born and raised Ketchikan local. I’ve spent the majority of my life on these beautiful Alaskan waters and provided countless Ketchikan fishing charters.

  1. US Coast Guard 100 Ton Master License
  2. Marine Safety Drill Instructor

  4. 3rd generation Alaskan fisherman
  5. Completed over 1,500 Ketchikan fishing charters and sightseeing excursions
  6. Started Commercial Fishing at 12 years old

Family Friendly Ketchikan Fishing Charters

If you’re travelling to Ketchikan with kids and want to bring them fishing with you, I think it’s a great idea! Kids are a welcome, easy addition to Ketchikan fishing charters.

I like to keep them involved and have them help me on the boat as much as possible. Young kids get their own tackle box. And if safety and conditions allow, they can drive the boat. It’s a learning experience and an adventure! Also, sometimes the littlest angler reels in the biggest catch! Kids under 16 don’t require an Alaska fishing license.

While planning your trip with me, make sure to let me know you’ll have kids along!

I even have a Kids Corner page on this website to get the them excited about their Ketchikan fishing charters! Visit it now.

Excellent Ketchikan Fishing Charters TripAdvisor Reviews

“James Brown was called the hardest working man in show business. Well Capt. Nick is the hardest working man in Ketchikan. He is constantly on the move so he can provide his guest with an outstanding fishing experience, AND he DELIVERS IT.”

“We were on a week long cruise to Alaska with a stop in Ketchikan. My husband booked a half day charter direct with Nick and Chasin’ Tail (rather than go through the ship excursion options). Nick was awesome! We took our 14 and 11 year old and he was totally helpful with them. Never stopped working. Always checked the lines to make sure they didn’t have jellyfish on them. Rotated lures. We caught a ton of fish and he coordinate all the processing and had it all shipped back once we returned. We would totally recommend him if you are in Ketchikan and want to do some fishing.”

“We met Nick through a referral. We did have a perfect day. Caught our limit and had a great time. Nick was a great guide and had to work very hard as we were pulling in so many fish!! Highly recommended!”
